What is Mutual Aid?

Mutual aid is collective support where people voluntarily share resources, skills, and services to meet each other’s needs, especially during times of crisis or systemic failure. Unlike charity, which often flows one-way, mutual aid is based on solidarity, reciprocity, and the belief that communities can care for themselves without relying on institutions that may be ineffective or unjust.
